State Representative, Keith Perry of Gainesville, is a concerned elected official who wants something positive to be done to respond to a recent tragedy. In one of the most tragic chain-reaction accidents that have occurred along I-75 near Gainesville in recent years, eleven people were killed and more than twenty were injured. Only a week later, Perry's political response comes none too soon and should offer some degree of reassurance to Florida citizens.

The fatalities and injuries were the result of a string of car accidents that occurred last month. Later, investigators clarified that these accidents were the result of a mixture of fog and smoke following a wildfire in Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, according to one Gainesville newspaper.

Rep. Perry, who serves as the state representative for western Marion County, wants to create a new piece of legislation that will make the Sunshine State's highways better for all travelers. Perry's idea is to create electronic signs that will describe the present conditions on the roadways of I-75 and U.S. 441, which will be informative for drivers.

A Feb. 6 news conference was planned to share his vision for making the state's roadways safer for motor vehicle travelers. The bill will be revealed as an amendment to HB 1399, which is a transportation bill already working its way through the House.

For more information on this political response to the recent multiple vehicle disaster, involving several car accidents, concerned Floridians should track the efforts of Rep. Perry in the spring session of the state legislature.
